Natural Shell Jewellery.

Mother of Pearl is the irridescent substance that forms the inner layer of the shell of some mollusks. It is used to make unique pieces of jewellery with a chic bohemian look.

At the Shell Art Studio in Lahinch, Co. Clare, we apply dyes to thin slices of the natural shell and then kiln fire them at 400C. The jewellery pieces are then polished to enhance the natural luminescence of the shell.

Pendant size is 25mm wide by 40mm high.

Braided black necklace  is 56cm (22in) long with an additional 4cm(1.5in) extension chain.

These items are lightweight and decorated on both sides.
